I have not come across any other car where you cannot remove the battery and charge it if it goes flat, then reconnect it without issues. It seems to me that it is a design fault if one cannot recharge the battery if/when required without major expense. Peugeot told the indie there was nothing they could do other than tow it to the main dealers; that can't be right under competition laws can it?

Of course they couldn't do anything without it being at their dealers!

I once had a Escort that kept bursting into flames and was going along the motorway and ended up with a fire in my bonnet.

As it happens I had pulled up next to a garage that did recovery.
The mechanic took one look and confided..... I can't touch it but its a 1.3 Escort and the crankshaft emission filter is blocked.... its sucking in oil through the distributor and into the air pipes and these are corroded and its dripping on the engine block....

He then said he couldn't help me but if I looked around the floor he was sure I'd find a bit of welding wire and if I picked it up and poked it through the filter it would fix the problem to get home.

Obviously this guy went out of his way... he even accidentally dropped the bit of welding wire for me.... :A

But this is the same principal.... if the Indy don't know the reset why should Peugeot tell him?

I bet the bloke who helped me years ago would have had a serious reprimand had his boss found out!

I had to reset my PUG several times after removing the battery.... A friend of the family who is now an indy told me how. I don't remember the exact details but it included holding in buttons in a certain sequence.... I had it on paper but having traded the PUG years ago no longer have it.

I think its more likely PUG told the Indy if he didn't have the correct diagnostic tool then they were not going to help him do a job he hadn't prepared for.

This is no different to any other manufacturer.....
I recently had a lot of problems with a Ford... the specific engine has a Ford issued TSB (Technical service Bulletin) one of hundreds.
These are ONLY available (officially) to Ford garages.....they are actually copy-write to prevent them being given to Indy's....I'm not in the trade so perhaps Indy's can legally purchase these from Ford.... All I know is they are like gold dust....

The one for my engine said "Do this or it will break again as its a known issue".....
So Ford let the indy's do this... the car breaks again and they end up with the business. No different!

I'm not saying I agree with the practice .... I'm just pointing out that it's not unique to PUG.

You gain boot space at the expense of having a spare that someone could steal if you don't lock it..

And at the expense of having your spare wheel and its attachments covered in filth when you come to need it. The pedal offsets in the Pug 206 are bizarre; I found it dnagerous to drive.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Just goes to show we're all different... Had a 206 for the best part of 10 years and I never noticed anything different or bizarre about the pedals during that time :rotfl:
