Reheating Chicken

Not use leftover chicken  :rotfl: :rotfl:
Whatever doesn't get eaten at the roast chicken will be picked off and the carcass used to make stock.
I usually bag it up and put it in the freezer for another time (pies/stir fries/curries/soup, you name it) as soon as it's cool.
As long as the chicken carcass isn't left on the side in a warm kitchen it should be OK. The key to safety is in cooling quickly, covering and refridgerating as soon as possible. And as Jackson's mum says, making sure it's thoroughly reheated and only once.:wave:0 -
The only chicken carcass I ever threw away whole was one I had 'hidden' under a baking tray and forgotten about because we had guests and I was unwell.. I found it 3 WEEKS!!!! later and it was a bit furry... I'd been wondering what the funny smell was for days!!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

If we have chicken for Sunday dinner, we then have something like Chicken pie or chicken pasta with the leftovers on Monday and then on the Tuesday I will boil up the carcass and make stock which I either use straight away or freeze.I always try to use every little scrap :-))0

Hi charliebabes,
There's an older thread on reheating chicken so I've added your thread to it as it helps to keeps all the replies together.

This has got me thinking about the bits of chicken that come of the carcass when I make stock (usually quite a lot). It's been cooked once (roasted) and then spent ages in the slow cooker while the stock is being made. If I use the bits of chicken to make soup later on, am I heating them a third time? Should I not be doing this?
Any help much appreciated.0 -
