Is this a scam?

My OH has had a number of odd texts on his mobile phone, as though they have made a mistake in the number. Things like, meet you at the Farmers pub at 8 p.m. or Check the menu now and I can order for you. Just received another one saying I have just printed off the photo of us all at Alisons.

He handed me his phone to text this person back and advise them they have obviously got the wrong number. Ive tried but the message wont send.

Now, its a bit strange as surely after the real recipient didnt reply to these texts the person involved would ring or speak to them about it, so Im beginning to think it isnt just a mistake. There was also one from another number just saying "hello". Neither text senders give their name at the end of the texts. Both numbers are strange - they begin +44

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of this please?

I dont think its a scam, the the +44 is quite normal, just ignore these two numbers and replace them with a 0.

Why not ring, instead of texting, that'll sort it out.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

or if worried my phone can block incoming texts or calls from a number maybe yours has this function mine does, a samsung galaxy s3 but would have thought some others may have this as well.
  • Funny one - I blocked a frequent call centre number a while back - it still rings twice a day and BLOCKED comes up on my mobile screen :)
  • +44 is how UK numbers come up on a lot of mobiles, don't worry about that part!
