I have exactly the same problem:

I know it isn't anything in my house because the buzzing starts when nothing is switching itself on or off in my house and before I get up. Never during the day - but it's electrical buzzing rather than overnight 'snow' noise.

I think it might be something in a neighbour's house but haven't managed to pin it down.

The only AM radio we now have is the clock radio and it is awful for R5 even though AM is OK elsewhere.

I know DAB has it's critics but if you have signal can't fault it (even though good VHF is just as good IMO).

Any one got any recommendations for a bedside clock radio with DAB? Our other radios are PURE but the Siesta seems expensive and the samller mini siesta looks naff with the angled face.

    Don't need a dock.

hi there I listen to radio 5 on and off all day if I'm in and like to go to sleep listening to it from about 10 ish onwards. Over the last couple of weeks at random times during the day (but always at night and overnight) all i get is loud buzzing throughout all the medium wave channels. this is on both mains and battery operated radios. During the day it's mainly OK but can suddenly have a really loud buzzing which makes it impossible to listen anyone got any ideas why? I'm in Leeds and there are some pylons about 200 metres away but this has never happened before in 17 years living here. could it be that someone nearby has started using CB radi? We're in a detached house but with neighbours close by. would appreciate any suggestions as Radio 4 isn't really my bag!
I too live ni leeds ;;esholt(emerdale)
I,ve got 2 dab in the house, and have had to move my aerial to get 5 live.Walk a lot and use my old walkman, no bother with it, not dab.
It,s happened since Emley moor changed signal to full power.
I can sit in one place, it,s ok;;move a foot , and buzzes like hell.
It,s settled down a bit now.
  • Whatever the merits of LED lamps one serious problem is 60% of the ones on sale despite being CE marked emit so much radio interference that they can jam your radio - DAB or FM equally badly. The effect radiates over 5 metres from the lamp with 12v MR11 types so even your neighbour could shut off your radio 4 reception. Check out the Which? site for led-bulb-radio-interference-dab-test. I've tried replacing my 9 kitchen lights twice, and sent the lamps back for a refund, as they stopped me listening to the radio. I tried some Chinese made ones from Amazon marketplace and some "British" ones from BeamLED, both failed.
