Interference with R5 Live

I listen to R5 Live on the MW frequency.

At times in the morning I get a buzzing sound - sounds a bit like electrical interference.

I'm sure it's not caused by anything in my house and suspect that it's something electrical / wireless which my neighbour has switched on after getting up (I'm still in bed!).

Any idea what it might be? She's recently gone onto Orange BB / phone. Could it be anything to do with that? Any suggestions to improve the situation?

The timing is not 100% regular - in the week it usually starts at around 640am / 7am, and it's just started now.

Doesn't appear to happen late at night because they go to bed quite early. Doesn't happen on any other MW frequencies or FM. If need be, I can live with it but it is irritating.

Amplitude modulation radio is prone to interference and as you know can be swamped after dark.
I get it when travelling in the car through a local village during the day never got to the bottom of it. The solution is to buy a DAB radio, Nicky and Rachel sound much better that way.
Neighbour is not a radio amateur by any chance.

BB would be constantly happening not at specific times.

How long does it last for? Could they be putting the kettle on?
Or perhaps the heating? It is very common for ISTR thermostats etc to cause interference.

    Have you tried FM?

BBC Radio 5 Live is not available on FM (mores the pity).

    Hmm. Thanks for the suggestions.

It's definitely not night-time MW interference - I know what that sounds like, and this is completely different. Also, it's not happening after dark.

This morning it was still going on 20 minutes after it started, so not a kettle or similar. It does fluctuate a little but is mainly 'on'.

I know that DAB would solve the problem but I like my clock radio; it's over 20 years old and going strong (the problem with R5 isn't confined to this radio so I know it's not caused by the radio set).

BB would be permanently on but I think she has a new wi-fi computer along with the BB. Could switching the laptop on activate the wif-fi and therefore cause it?

Heating thermostat may be a possibility if they've got a new one. I've been here 2+ years and it's only started in the last few months. I can ask.
