Ford Fiesta 2013

Hello all!

I have been looking at the new Ford Fiesta 2013 model and think I have settled on the 1.25 82bhp Zetec.

I have made a couple of enquiries with dealers and asked for an idea on price, I am told I am looking at about £12k. I have always stuck to buying fairly old used cars previously so this is all a fairly new thing for me. I know that Ford apparently offer decent discounts off of the list price but I am not sure what 'decent discount' I should be aiming for... I intend to use the finance they offer across three years because there is no way I would want to change car after only two year so it seems sensible to extend it, and it would also give me a little more time to save up some money to potentially buy it.

Could anyone a bit more clued up possibly give me a bit of guidance on what price I should be looking for?

  • For what it's worth. I bought a new Fiesta in 2001, a 1.25 Zetec model. I presume it's the same engine.

On the whole, it was an excellent car. The list on mine was £13,800 with the options I wanted. I got it for £12,200 after a bit of haggling. The dealer did sneak me a little; he took my order and sourced a group-stock pre-reg'd car. It just so happened the closest he could find had a sun-roof and he adjusted the finance figure back up to £14,400 as the sunroof was a £600 option and he'd not discounted this model.

It took an hour or two of arguing the point, but I ended up with a free sunroof. I had to REALLY argue it though.

My friend actually bought the same car as me at around the same time - mine was an X reg, his was 51. We had the same minor niggles here and there, sorted under warranty, and I had six years of rather pleasurable driving with it. I did outgrow it. though I fully got my moneys worth. I sold it private for £3k and I only really ever had maintenance items on it, such as brakes, shocks, a battery one year, etc.

If I didn't have scuba and music gear to move around, I'd not hesitate to buy another brand new again! Sadly, the fiesta is a little under my needs. The 1.25l engine is great though!

The 2012 model can be had for less than £10k brand new.
  • Davey- but the Zetec of the 2012 model is still priced at over £12k. I know you can get money off that, but the situation would be much the same as where I am with the 2013.

Buy the 2012 model and save a bundle.

More keeping with this website though buy a 3 year old one for pennies compared to the cost of a 2013 one.

I'd also recommend DriveTheDeal. Got my new Fiesta through them in January. No hassle at all and saved some money

The 2013 is a good looking car with its Aston Martin style nose, but 12 grand for a tiny-engined supermini.... hmmm well it's not exactly moneysaving (especially on finance!).

Out of interest, what's making you want a new model, seeing as you said you previously used to buy older cars?

I was told never buy the new model right after release, Buyers do the testing for them.

You want the last one of those made, They will have cured most of the issues by then.
