Unlocking Orange iphone

Hi everyone I wonder if you could give me some advice. My Daughter is an Orange customer and has recently upgraded to iphone 5. She has kindly offered her iphone 3 to her stepdad (me) we have been trying to get through to Orange to get an unlock but don't seem to be able to find the correct option to press, or they put us in a Q. Anyone had better luck? Seems a waste of a great phone if I can't use it.

I'd just take any option that gets you to speak to a human (or as close as you'll get with Orange CS these day ).

They'll pass you on to the right dept. There's a £20 charge and the phone must still be linked to a live Orange acc.

The unlock comes through iTunes a few days later. . .

I admire your optimism.

It has been 8 weeks since my first phonecall to orange to have an iPhone 3GS unlocked.

its still locked!
They took the fee out of my bank account!
its cost me 10 quid in calls to try and sort the problem
their email system is bouncing emails back with an automated reply that they are having email issues.
and i am having to resort to letters of complaint sent via recorded delivery.

Well, yes. Something has clearly gone wrong in your case...

Just bare in mind that with all iPhones, unlike any other handset, the unlock has to come from Apple which adds an extra layer to the whole thing. And Apple aren't known for being that helpful when their system fails.

Have you restored the phone through Itune yet as that is how the unlock is processed on the phone
