on the right hand side of the google screen, there is a little icon that looks like a cog, click that and then access advanced search from there.then you can input uk
  • Under the search box, click "Search Tools" and another line of appears below, from which you click "The Web" and then "Pages from the UK".

My congratulations go out to Google for complicating what used to be a simple task.
  • scotty1971: I found what you advised but now when I open the google search page the little cog icon has disappeared and it asks me to sigh in.

poppellerant:cannot find search tools option. its got google search and I'm feeling lucky.
if I click the more option at the top right then click even more I get more options but it seems a long way round this and even there I could not find a search tools option.

You have to initiate the search before the other options become available and if you then click on "Search Tools" > "The web" then "Pages from the UK" option appears.

They really know how to make things more difficult for people. It makes me question why the hell I am still using google. First the annoying auto search which was slow and threw up stuff that no one was interested in. Then https searches which prevent a program that I use which re-writes the web page removing the annoying eye fatigue inducing white backgrounds. I fixed that using Stylish Firefox extension, add one more extension which I did not require before. Now people have to mess around and spend a lot more time doing the searches, which I think is the whole reason for these stupid ideas to make people spend more time on google search pages looking at their ads.

It all used to be so simple. Search the web or search the UK. Search the shopping comparison or images etc etc.
  • thank you all especially fermi I am getting fed up with the useless changes google are making.
Is there a browser that other people can recommend?
as A.penny.saved says "It all used to be so simple. Search the web or search the UK. Search the shopping comparison or images etc etc."
