Sky TV Queries

Options
We recently had our offer accepted on a flat which we're (fingers crossed) hoping we'll move into at the end of January. Now, at home (living with parents) I've been with Virgin Media (and its many predecessors) pretty much since the beginning but unfortunately my new place doesn't support Cable so I'm most likely going with Sky.

At the moment they're offering Free Sky+ box, Free Installation, Free On Demand and £100 M&S vouchers (which are irrelevant really) - will this deal likely be on in January when I will likely be ordering?

Obviously won't be ordering anything until we have our mortgage offer confirmed, etc. but I'm not sure whether their deals are likely to be better in the run up to Christmas or not.

PS. We're only interested in Sky TV and not phone/broadband.

I tihnk for a flat you have slightly different options when it comes to sky (e.g you often have to share a communal dish) so your options may be more limited.

I am not too familur with the flat issues but wanted to bump this so that those that are may see and comment for you.

  • If the flat is served by a communal dish then offers such as these are often excluded. You need to find out what is provided in the flat - communal dish aerial or whether you are allowed to have individual dishes installed. In the case of communal satellite dishes there will almost certainly be one approved installation company who are the only ones who can sort out sky installations for you.
  • Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty sure it's a communal aerial - does this mean we won't be able to get free installation, etc.? Don't really care about the M&S vouchers or equivalent. Unfortunately, the flat in question isn't connected to any digital TV provider at the moment.

As I said earlier, would prefer to be going with Virgin in the first place :(

As stated you will need to talk to the installers appointed to install on the communal system to see which of Sky's deals they will offer - if there is one appointed Sky will not deal direct with you and most cashback offer sites exclude installations on communal systems.
