Apparently it is illegal to take Moroccan currency into Morocco [despite the willingness of UK exchange bureaus' willingness to sell it to you
]. What would be the best way to access currency once in Marakech? Presumably NOT by using a credit card. Take £ sterling [or Euros?] or use a debit card?

The official rule is that you are only allowed to take 1000 Moroccan Dirhams into/out of the country (around £80 worth) and obtain the rest within Morocco. They quite happily accept Sterling (ensure the notes are clean and in good condition) and you will get a better rate of exchange over in Morocco compared with buying the Dirhams in the UK. They also accept euros (but this would work out worse for you as you would be going from the £ to € then to Moroccan Dirham).
