Puddle splashing cars!

It is serious! I don't expect to go out and come home drenched in mud. Sorry. Does it rain mud where you are then?
It was completely avoidable on a wide country lane with no other traffic and to have her laughing at me when I showed her the state I was in says to me she did it on purpose.
Country lanes are often covered in mud, especially this time of year when farmers are turning over their fields, I know as I live rural.
Add to that the relentless rain we have endured lately then, yes, you can expect to get splattered in mud whilst out walking in a country lane, what do you expect?
Also, a motorist doesn't see exactly what a pedestrian sees with regard to other traffic, that's like comparing apples with oranges.
Most walkers near where I live dress appropriately, in waterproofs, in bad weather.
What were you wearing, a tutu? No wonder the driver laughed at you.0 -
This happens all the time at my bus stop when it rains! They really need to alter the camber of the road. If you are standing at the stop when a car goes past, you will get drenched! I am wise to it now, and stand around the back until I see the bus coming.0

It's a shame your not in Barbados, it's a $50 fine there for splashing someone.0

Most of the time is impossible to avoid the puddle, in fairness. I know I wouldnt willingly drive through a puddle (you dont know whats under it for a start) but sometimes you have no choice and if someone is nearby then its just bad luck for them0

Until recently one of the main roads near me was pretty bad for collecting water directly in the path of car wheels by a busy and only that side pavement.
I grown wise to that path in wet weather as its IMPOSSIBLE to avoid the puddles on that road, its too busy and I cannot move to avoid them and they are random depending how heavy the rain is and how many people hit them already. Its about 200 yards worth of road.
However its been redone now so it doesn't cause a problem but here a laugh.
Drove through it one evening, "lovely" weather, came up to see a guy walking along and I knew I would get him. I slowed right down enough so I don't splash him. The part that funny was the fact the guy saw he was about to get splash went to jump out of the way (giving me a thumbs up - "thanks mate!" out loud) only to step in a big puddle on the pavement.......
Why bother lol?0 -
If the driver was driving without due care and attention, and without consideration foot other road users, there is an issue here. If traveling at a high enough speed to create a big splash, they were likely fast enough too aquaplane or be pulled to one side by the weight of the water given a big enough puddle. Of course we can't see the evidence of size etc, so pie speculation, but a laughing dismissive attitude doesn't show much consideration for anyone but herself.
I hope driving carelessly down country lanes she doesn't accidentally get any long nasty scratches up the side of her car, or damage a wing mirror.0 -
Earlier this year when we had heavy rain, I was walking through the city centre when some Boy Racer in his badly modded box decided to actually swerve to the side of the road to hit me with a puddle. Unfortunately for him, there was parking on both sides of the road. When he swerved to hit the puddle, he must not have seen the line of cars next to said puddle, and had to swerve again before hitting the puddle else he would've hit one of the parked cars at a great deal of speed. It still makes me smile to this day.0

As a driver, I'm not going to swerve to avoid a puddle if it's going to put me or others in danger.
You got wet, you live in Britain, it happens, get over it.0
