daft question what is red call button on Galaxy text screen

I know this is daft but will ask anyway. I have a Galaxy phone and went to look at my text messages just now. There were no new messages but I swiped down to check on an earlier message from a friend and a red call button appeared. I have never had that before and cannot find it in my manual. Is it telling me there is an answerphone message waiting for me?

it usually means you've had a missed call0

It's just a shortcut to dial the contact , with the Galaxy S3 if you are reading a text message you can just lift the phone to your ear to dial that contact.0
