Just looked on the net, Ravenstone Group do look genuine. One of the services they provide is the investigation of insurance fraud. Suggest to avoid hassle you contact them using a phone number from their website: https://www.ravenstone.co.uk.

I guess it could be that someone with your name did have an accident whilst uninsured and they are trying to find him.

The banks looked genuine. Libor fixing scandal!!
Are you telling me that they will contact everyone with the same name as me , it must be thousands?. Causing worry for innocent people.
They even spelt my name wrong.

Why do you say that it is a "scam"? If you weren't involved, tell them. They are a bona fide fraud investigation company.

I say its a scam because they are harassing innocent people to put money in their pockets.
Why should I have to contact them using my time and money, when I have not done anything?.
Bona fide companies still have to have standards of practice and get their facts right in the first place.

Someone may have given your details for the accident. So as far as they are aware they are acting within their standards.
Untill you contact them, then you are not going to know....

Failure to act could see you wasting even more of your money and time. If they decided to take it to court.

Its a SCAM, because someone on the internet says it is... :rotfl:

On the basis of their original post, they have sent you one - ONE - letter. This does not constitute harrassment.

They will have been appointed by an insurer and typically work for a flat case fee. Therefore there is no incentive for them to "harrass" you in order to "put money in their pockets".

    Because:

    (a) This will avoid any further attempts by them to contact you, and
    (b) Someone, somewhere, probably has "done something", so the faster that you are eliminated from their enquiries, the faster the true culprit will be located. Which is good for everyone who pays insurance premiums.

They may have limited information available - there is nothing to indicate that they are not acting in good faith.

Receiving an unsolicited letter from an unknown company, claiming for an accident that never happened could indeed be perceived as a scam.

However, since a couple of replies have confirmed that the company is genuine, then it may well be worth calling and putting them straight.

If you have any proof that you were elsewhere at the time of the accident, then that could serve to make the matter closed. (Not implying guilty until proved innocent or anything, just suggesting that they could hardly pursue anything else if it was demonstrably not you!)

Oh dear another that throws their toys out of the pram when they don't get answers they want to hear.

You post on an open forum people have given you helpful advice and all you do is accuse them of being unhelpful, making pathetic comments and having an attitude, looks rather like the pot calling the kettle.

I put this post on here because I was trying to help people , your childish symbol ROTFL is a sad reflection on you.

In what way was your OP trying to help people?

They are a genuine company who deal with exactly what the letter was about.
Just where does SCAM fit into that.....

In fact the Ravenstone Group could ask this thread to be pulled down.

Perhaps a better title, and one that would help people searching out the company would be....
    "Bizarre Letter from Ravenstone Group"

Not "Scam letter" which gives no hint to what maybe posted.

I hear SCAM everyday from people. Yet when you explain the situation to them. All they say is "Well its says its a scam on the internet"
Hence the :rotfl: icon.... Its a light hearted comment.... Sadly, you seem to be lacking on that side. This site does not have a roll eyes one, which would be much better.
Of course the internet is full of usefull information.
Just the same as its full of rubbish.

Did they provide details of your vehicles registration ? could be something as simple as 1 letter being wrong. My dad received a letter from a parking firm and after contacting them they confirmed the vehicle was a completely different make it seems an error was made when requesting the registered keepers address as they supplied the wrong registration number

Again, a letter from an unknown company demanding monies for something that did not happen could easily be perceived to be a scam.

If the company didn't do due diligence before sending it out, then they are lackadaisical, if not negligent.
