I have been looking at getting another netbook myself recently and have done a lot of research.

A used netbook is fine. The best of the bunch is a Samsung N145 and there have been many selling on ebay recently. (check out the reviews on Amazon) They mostly seem to go for between £110 and £120. Look for ones that appear to be in very good or mint condition from sellers with a good feedback record.

Once you get one I would do two immediate things to greatly improve performance. 1. Upgrade the ram to 2GB (cost £20) and 2. put the Peppermint 3 operating system on it (Linux based and free.) Put it on as a dual boot with the windows 7 system already on it. Peppermint 3 is fast and trouble free.
  • I would get a tablet because they are far easier to use then any other device due to the touchscreen and you can get a top quality device for under £130
