Hi, could I use the universal job site without an account. the old site is fine to me. I just visited the old site and browse around all the available posts.

But now, I could not even go to any post at all.

Could anyone tell me that, please?
  • I went to sign on today and was asked whether I had signed up for UJM. I said that I had not and that I wanted further information about the scheme including whether it was optional or mandatory. The reply that I got was that it is mandatory. I then showed the advisor information that I had printed off from the internet indicating that UJM was not mandatory. I said that if it was mandatory then I would like an official document from the DWP to confirm this.
This was unsurprisingly not forthcoming and my printout should now be in the hands of the jobcentre manager.
I also found this today which makes interesting reading.

    Many thanks for that

Heavy duty pressure on JCP advisers to tell JSA claimants that a requirement of JSA is to register with UJM site amd post a CV.
Obviously the only measure of success for UJM is registrations - by fair means or foul.
Highly dubious legally whether JCP staff can in fact say that or whether any JSA claimant failing to do so would actually get sanctioned.

    Cheers

    PCS Union clear things up.

Use of Universal Jobmatch is NOT compulsory & Jobcentre staff saying otherwise amounts to “official misdirection” :

You wouldn't be spied on 24/7, I would imagine the staff have better things to do than spy on job seekers 24/7.

Not from what Ive observed. Their good at being rude and patronizing and appying sanctions as soon as they can.:D

Their looking to save money anyway they can, despite putting 7.5 billion down the toilet for the WP. Their IT systems are geared to monitor who signs up,they will know how long you've been doing job searches for,in their unrealistic world they think its reasonable to be carrying this moronic task out looking at zero for 35 hours a week.Google the IT info and you may find this an interesting read,

    Hope this helps someone.

They cant sanction you for something their own rules say otherwise. “It is not compulsory for job-seekers to use UJM”
