Universal Jobmatch question?

Morning everyone,

I am new on here so I am not sure if this has been answerd but just wondering is Universal Jobmatch mandatory?

I signed up on the 19th of November when it came into force and I done my cv and I gived permision for dwp to access my account but since a few days ago I was worried about dwp spying on me all the time and since I am a honest Jobseeker who always applys for jobs I shouldn't have to be spyed on all the time I have decided to untick that box where it says (authorise DWP to view my accounts, including job search activity, feedback and notes) but could I changed my mind like that? or once I gived them authrorise could i have not changed my mind? is it mandatory?

If an advicer ask to see my account next time I sign on which is 7th of december I will be happy to show them my account :)

At the moment I have applyed for 16 jobs on this site and other sites as well so Jobcentre can't say I haven't been trying when I have ;)

Any advice would be great thanks :D

You can print off your log and take it with you, why do you feel they would spy on you? No you do not have to give them access.
Your adviser can put jobs in your basket, the system can notify you of new jobs, I wouldn't worry since your adviser will have over 100 people on a case-load they will not have time to spy in your account.

Well its obvious that they will spy on me if I give them permission to access my account as its like big brother spying on you 24/7.

Also I don't have a printer so I am unable to print them of :(
  • Keep the box unticked, it's the only part of Universal Jobmatch that's optional. Your advisor can dump job matches into your basket and sanction you if you don't apply. Jobcentres have what they call IAD's (internet access devices) which you can log onto and print your jobsearch activity to give to the advisor at your signing. Remember they cannot FORCE you into giving them access. Keep control!

    Tameside is spot on

JSA claimants DO NOT have to give JCP staff access to their UJM a/c. Permission if given can be withdrawn at any time.

The threat of any JSA sanction can only be to register for UJM and post a profile / CV - not to use it or show a JCP adviser anything on UJM if claimant doesn't want to.

Even threat of sanction unclear at moment until 'legally tested' by DWP Decision Maker.

You can still provide jobsearch by any reasonable method -even verbally if you can remember everything that's necessary.
The JCP job search evidence booklet is not a formal document - providing the evidence on a piece of paper is fine
  • I would also recommend you make your CV private and not public. The site has been hacked once already (fake job opportunity posting), it seems quite easy to put a fake job on this and there are some dodgy geezers on the internet quite willing to prey on the unemployed.

    Damn good point

Be very cautious what personal details you give - I would suggest keep it as minimal as possible. I've seen CVs with name, address, DOB, NI number etc - MADNESS

Advisers can still 'match' you to jobs even without access to your account. They can ring you and match over the phone. These jobs do not have to be put into your basket or even off the jobcentre site. An adviser can see any job advert and issue you with the details and formally notify you to apply, if you then chose not to you risk loosing your benefit.

If you allow them access you can save having to fill out the job search record booklet, has to be agreed first though. It is optional now, but eventually all the signing books will be done away with and it will all be recorded electronically.
Will have the plus of not having to sign every two weeks for some.

Lot of the advisors seem to be getting a lot of grief over this, to the point they seem to be just making up the requirements for JSA.

I have had quoted to me...

You need to be searching 7 days a week.
You need to be doing 30 hours of looking for a job a week.

Its being rolled out quite slowly as advisors have not even been "trained" yet how to use the new system.
  • Another 'trap' with the universal jobmatch is when you select a job to look at you are given details with two options, APPLY or a drop down menu of reasons why you don't want to apply. My advise is NOT to choose any reason that you haven't applied, just go back to the search options. IF you choose a reason you could be 'self sanctioning' with your answer.
