Another 'trap' with the universal jobmatch is when you select a job to look at you are given details with two options, APPLY or a drop down menu of reasons why you don't want to apply. My advise is NOT to choose any reason that you haven't applied, just go back to the search options. IF you choose a reason you could be 'self sanctioning' with your answer.

Yes I agree with this, Just press the back button if you don't know the reason why you don't wish to apply as if you click on the wrong reason you could be sanctioned, I think this is a trap to sanction any Jobseeker to save money

Whats the final conclusion on this, is it compulsory or not? There are 3 threads on UJM and all have different info, this one says its compulsory to register but you dont have to give access, the other says you dont have to register at all and cant be forced to, which is right?

Also, when you say they can download your searches, do you mean if you have given them access to your account?
  • Not been tested in court BUT....

Yes, you HAVE to register if given a new Jobseekers agreement or have been 'directed' to by an advisor.

NO, you do not have to give permission for the jobcentre to have access.

They cannot download your searches if you have denied them access.

    Hope this helps.

Can I ask where you got this info from?
  • Gaz, I DO know these facts otherwise I'd stay silent.

The Universal Jobmatch has already been scammed at least 3 times for 'vacancies' in MI6, A Gay Princess wanted?, and An advert appeared last week for the Montcalm Hotel offering a staggering £3-5000 a month for bar work and catering staff. All candidates had to do is send a full CV, with contact details and a passport sized photograph, to an email address which appeared to emanate from Thailand.

Looked at the list of reasons too, and some of them seem the very reasons they'd sanction you. I'm surprised 'Can't be bothered, prefer the dole' isn't listed. :D Seems like they're setting people up, and hardly being discrete about it.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Well its obvious that they will spy on me if I give them permission to access my account as its like big brother spying on you 24/7.

Also I don't have a printer so I am unable to print them of :(

You wouldn't be spied on 24/7, I would imagine the staff have better things to do than spy on job seekers 24/7.
