We Are Decking the Halls with NSDs December Challenge

On the Update Debate...
Perhaps the time has come to try something different; New Year, New Look kinda thing.
It is lovely that the Keepers of the Thread like to make comments on each individual post but it does take a marathon session to do that. When I had pole position the front page was kept up to date with the posters achievements, then I behaved as any other poster would in response to what I had read. This is just me saying how I kept the thread; not a criticism in any shape or form I assure you; Bless You for all your hard work :T
If things were different with my situation I would gladly have another go, but with Mum's health as it is I would not be able to commit.
Maybe we could have a running total of how many nsds are collected each day or something, or Updaters name & number in pms to whoever is updating the front page..anything to cut down the feeling this thread is a chore. It is supposed to be a FUN way to help with a serious situation, not a drudge to be endured
It would be so sad if this Challenge should disappear because folks were getting in a lather about not replying to x,y or z every day so!

#9 for me yesterday!
My 2 pennies worth... I don't think anyone would mind if the updates stopped all together. I mean, I like to look through them and get my personal congrats, but I'm sure it's a massive job!!
I'm off to Tesco later for my final grocery shop before xmas! That's because I'm off to my parents on Saturday, and probably staying until around the 28th/29th.Because it's fun to have money!

There's also a lot more people around on the thread that I remember in previous years - and, whilst that's great .... it does make it even harder for the updaters.
I'm not sure what to suggest for January - those of us who've been around a while will know there's always a huge influx of newbies ... again, great but ....
Looking at the length of the updates just now - I personally feel (and I've not been doing them!) that it must be a bit of a chore for the updaters ... and that's not how it should be.
I'm wondering (and no offense to anyone) whether NinjaSavingKat's NSDers could report / keep track of their NSDs on that thread - I know Kat is intending to run a new challenge in January and there's a different set of "rules" for NSDs in that Challenge? (as some people do with their NSDs as part of the Grocery Challenge on the OS board)On the Update Debate...

Hi
Just to add my perspective as one of the updaters.
I don't mind doing two updates a week. It keeps me up to date with what's going on here as I don't get a chance to pop in as frequently as I'd like.
If there are around two pages of posts to update on then I will comment on every post. That takes me around 45 minutes or so which is fine by me, I don't see that as a chore. Any more than that and it's a brief whizz-through and usually numbers only or it really would become a pain in the wotsit.
It really would help though if everyone put their NSD totals in colour so we can see them more easily. I know we have asked before but............ Rising's right, it will get busier in January (it always does) so this will become more important then.
Hope that helps.

or tuna... saw delivery of 5 kg loins in today... and tuna blood is a nightmare it completely dries out your skin due to the histamine.
Amazing, that's very impressive, I'd love a gas bill like that. Right well, my aim for this winter is to cut down on the heating bills then. I haven't had it on today so far so that's a good start :rotfl:
As for your yukky tuna blood problem get urself down to L*sh and get helping hands handcream, it's a natural barrier cream that will help to stop hands drying out, we get lots of nurses who buy it cuz of the alcohol sanitiser that dries out their skin, it really helps, and no yukky chemicals in it to make ur skin worse.citizenkitten wrote: »suzitiger - dont worry i think December is just one of those months, still got 25 days to go!
and thanks yes it has been a slog, I haven't been on the forum for agesBut I am checking in today because I have 6 NSDs to declare!! Hoping to get a few more in before the end of the month!!

Afternoon lovely NSDers.
On the update front, I shall add what I think and hope to goodness no-one gets offended.
I love running this thread and being involved but am aware that I am only the caretaker of the first pages and we should all have a say in how it should adapt in the future.
I have to agree with rising and that if a thread is running with a different set of "rules" then perhaps the folks signed up to that one should post their achievements on that thread. You can do one or the other or sign up to bothI think what I am trying to say is, that it is not fair to ask the NSD thread to do the work of another thread IYSWIM.
I also agree with spoony, the updates are not so bad if everyone puts their total in large colourful font and there is not too many pages.
I also agree with BMF, it is easy for me just to skim through and update the front page without a daily update being done. I have it all saved onto a word document that I just cut and paste across.
I also agree with flubbery, I'm not sure the updates get read by everyone and are skimmed over by most folks.
I haven't helped much, have I? I just agreed with everyone :rotfl: Keep debating and coming up with ideas. :AFree by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -

What a lovely thing to say.
I have to say in the bad snow two years ago it kept me sane.
I love reading the updates.
I am happy to go along with whatever is deceided by the people who do all the work~ the updaters & the person running the thread freeby..
I take my hat off to you all.
As I only type with one finger it would take me ages to do an update~I am so appreciative of everybody's hard work.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters.
