Why do ebay put sellers in this position?

  • Yes, I sent her a really polite message asking if she had changed her mind and wanted to cancel. No reply despite her leaving feedback for other sellers

I hate raising npb cases as you are just opening yourself to possible bad feedback, but I am getting quite a few lately.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

Yes, we use it as short hand really to denote a dispute being opened.

For instance an 'NPB' case can be opened on day 4

Think oldone was suggesting all NPB's should be blocked from feedback - even if they eventually pay. I totally agree.
But then surely a "bad" seller could do this to avoid bad feedback?
when a buyer has made an offer on an item they have clearly understood what they were doing and then waited 4 days just before i could open a npb case to tell me they don't want it now-they shouldn't be able to abuse the system that way. Buyer holds all the cards as if you make them go through with the sale they will neg you. If you agree to cancel they aren't getting the np strikes they deserve.
What would be needed is for someone from eBay to look at each case on an individual basis. Would be way too expensive, so not going to happen.
Easier for eBay to take the path of least resistance. They are big enough that if they upset some people it doesn't matter too much to them.
That's one of the problems with a private (near) monopoly.
  • Can I jump n here and ask -

    I've got a buyer who hasn't paid , it's been 14 days .

in the Resolve a Problem bit there's 2 options :

    1. I sold an item and haven't received payment
    2. I sold an item and want to cancel transaction

which one should I pick ?

also should I give feedback before doing this ?

I used to give buyers 10 days before a NPB.

Invoice on item ending, Invoice on day 4 and again on day 8, NPB on day 10.

Now Invoice on item ending, Invoice on Day 3 and NPB on day 4.

I'm posting today and still waiting on one buyer, which means another trip to the PO if they finally pay, holds up everything and doesn't help if wanting to re-list on a free weekend.

No.1, once picked you can't give feedback.

If it's a small amount I sometimes I don't raise it and just leave positive feedback with a massive NEGATIVE BUYER NEVER PAID

Please - this is terrible advice and will get the OP a seller warning.

OPen an NPB , wait the full 4 days and if no payment received close it. At that point (and not before then sheds) the buyer is unable to leave feedback. If buyer pays while case is open then they can still leave feedback.

Do not under any circumstances leave a false positive, this really annoys other sellers as buyer can then get strike removed easily and seller gets a warning for feedback abuse.

Make sure you have your seller restrictions set to not allow buyers to bid if they have 2 or more strikes in a 12 month period

Also unless a full NPB case is opened the buyer won't get a strike- so selelrs that let them get away with this are just encouraging the buyer to do it again.

Shed's advice was just about wrong in every respect.
