it may be worth comparing like with like -

King's "package" is quoted as £519,000pa in the article, so whilst £624,000pa is a significant increase it is not double what King is getting. I expect there will be a large relocation element in there.

Being paid 'a fair days worth for a fair days pay' or something on those lines, is acceptable to most of us, but when this job pays nearly 4.5 times the wage that a Prime Minister gets paid for governing our country, to a layman the sums dont sound real.

But of course this job is so different as this man could instill so much confidence in the BOE and our country that he will earn his salary in his first speech.

I am more concerned that a great number of our bankers did NOT know the risks that were being taken.

Of course the bankers knew the risk. They also connected with the right people. Who unfortunately didn't and were sucked in. Preferring to hand out Titles than ensuring proper regulation.

one needs no qualifications or any experience to be prime Minister, the BoE job needs a little of both.

    Yes point taken 100%

Someone will now ask how Rayne Rooney can justify being paid £250,00 a week so I thought that really i posed a silly question. Puts it all into perspective.

    Kind regards

Canada's economy isn't really comparable to the UK economy though, is it?

So why did an American run Barclays bank? Likewise BP currently.

Or an Italian become CEO of Vodaphone.

The world at the highest level is now global.

    Well I'm happy.

He sounds like he has a great CV and both Gideon and Balls like him.

And while not exactly in the Clooney league, he scores far higher on my eyecandyometer than Merv.

She's not on my window shopping list, I have to say. Though if I was her, I would suggest he sorts the unruly eyebrows out.
