Considering UKBA sponsoring for migrant workers requirements I wonder what tier this vacancy was appointed under?

Now Mr Carney's package of £624,000 is more than double Sir Mervyn King's salary of £305,000.

Is there a valid reason for such a large amount?

excellent, he must be twice as good!
  • Crazy money!

I could be equally ineffective as Marv, writing the odd grovelling letter for a mere £500k pa.

Maybe he'll have to write twice as many letters. ;)

Does bring the question....how are these people ever supposed to "get" the rest of the population.

I mean, if you are on about £12,000 a week, everything seems pretty easy, and your bread going up by 20p and petrol increasing by £3 a tank can't really be much of a concern, if at all noticeable!

Does the BOE have some kind of independant panel, made up of entirely normal people on an average wage bringing up a family? At least political parties can be pulled back a little by their peer parties.

I always remember a conversation I had with a consultant, who truly believed that most employees had !!!!!!!!!!! and company shares topping up their wages each month. She simply couldn't comprehend how someone would get by on 18k a year.

    Cute! Invest-ments is a swear word :D

    !!!!!!!!!!! ... HMPH!

it may be worth comparing like with like -

King's "package" is quoted as £519,000pa in the article, so whilst £624,000pa is a significant increase it is not double what King is getting. I expect there will be a large relocation element in there.

It does appear that Canadian IRs have been twice what they have been here for since 2008 and their inflation has been around 2%.

Canada's economy isn't really comparable to the UK economy though, is it?

It appears more stable and better run.
