a rant.

driving along minding my own buisiness today coming back from treating wife to cinema flick, when i came to a lane an old stone wall on both sides quite narrow but youll get two cars past eachother if you both take your time and judge your width a van would be a no go and the van would have to stop for oncoming in the pull in or reverse back into it if a car came round the blind bend up further.

i came round blind bend and drove about 90 yards following another car doing approx 10-15 MPH with a distance of about 2 saloon car lenghs, keeping as close to wall as i could for the citroen DS ahead to pass, behind him was a old focus, who suddenly decided he wanted the middle of the road to see if he could overtake the DS just before we pass eachother, i slammed anchor pulling to my left and ripped my wing mirror off my car, the focus misses my drivers mirror by MM's overtakes the DS on the blind bend.

my mirror bounced between wall and my car a few times and made small chips in my prestine paintwork because the road was leaf ridden and i slid for sec as ABS tried hard not to lock but was a given with the muck residue the leaves have left on the ground i was lucky not to plant my car in the wall in that second i let off the brake on steared back out from the wall.

it put my heart in my mouth, stains on the seat and i think my wife nearly had a kitten!.

the car is local, and its a local road that is nutorious for catching people out, many people take caution on that strecth but this guy thought it was his personal stetch of rally track.

what a tool! (and many other things i cant repeat here).

after that i drop my wife off at school to pick the kids up on way home in a 20 zone a audi s-line decides to overtake me only to discover that 100 yards ahead the red light is on red and the cars are stopped cut infront of me but not enough room and block the road as there was a line of traffic behind, sits half in half out over the white lines looks at me as if i had done something wrong to him! waving his hand about in a mannar that can only be described as if he was polishing a pole!. !!!!!!!!? you tool!

after today ive decided im getting a dash cam. but i;m not going to be a youtuber nooby and post some rediculous footage because im not like that, just purely be for in the event of something happening i have video evidence to back ME up.

how did you drive go today people?

Know how you feel. I can't understand the number of drivers who will take silly risks in exchange for a split second saving on their journey time.

Then there are those who think it's safe to do 80-90mph on the motorway and only keep one car length distance from the vehicle in front. Presumably that's why you often see a line of saloons on the hard shoulder with front and rear bumper damage.

I just try to keep out of it. The idiots will face the consequences of their actions one day. You just have to hope that when they do, they don't injure/kill an innocent party in the process.

I have a dashcam, it's not the best bit of kit but it does the job of recording the facts. There are lots of fakes out there so do your research before buying. I'd recommend searching YouTube for "Techmoan" and "CarCamCentral" as they both review these sorts of gadgets.

Nice car! You saw one of these?

Cool idea getting a dash cam, I want one too. I want two, one forwards one backwards. But its not high on my list of priorities.

My days driving significant events are generally numpties on the M4 thinking that lane 1 is too good for them and watching people undertake them.

Lovely car, dad used to have one

Think the OP might have been referring to a new DS3 though (unfortunatley)

It was white vans for me today. The one who decided to overtake a cyclist, even though I was coming towards him and it meant that I had to swerve on to the pavement to avoid a collision.

Then on the way home the road was flooded, with just the middle of the road being safe to drive down. I flashed the van coming in the other direction so that he could pass safely and I would wait for him. He stopped, so I went instead. When I was half way through the flood he decided he was going to go too, so I had to pull over in to the deeper water *sigh*

    :wall:

    ...............what planet are they from?

I was driving home in the dark(obviously doh.) the other night. Had a bit of speed on and then I wasn't thinking about the possiblility of a flood, but I saw (too late because it was dark) the dreaded black sheen on the road ahead which could only be a pool of water. There were cars on the other side of the road going slowly through. I hit it quite hard and just had to hold on tight straight as an arrow as to do anything else could have caused me to lose control. No doubt they were cursing me, splashing water over their windscreens.
  • I watched about 150 cars one afternoon out of my work window on my lunch break all going round a really deep puddle.

Car 151 decided to brave it through!!

Broke down. He put his hazards on, got out, in wellies, stepped at the side of the road nodded for a moment out of shame, and just walked off up the road.

    What on EARTH?!
  • A muppet in a Range Rover charging through a flood - well karma, karma, karma!!!!! The silly sod broke down up the road with white smoke pouring from the exhaust!!:rotfl:

yip i dont see them often other than shows i go to in the summer, this one was yellow white roof yellow/white interior even had american style white walled tyres. was quite impressive and i wanted to give the guy the room to come through, but focus man had psycotic idea's behind him.

i havent hit my or another wing mirror in the 11 years since i passed my test my pride is a bit annoyed. and i have OCD with car paintwork and interior.

it seems things happen to my car when im not arround, last time i was at friends garage when he had farm fence posts (wooden) delivered when one fell off the wagon on delivery and caught the back bumper, it was lucky the wax on the car made it slip on contact and only caused superficial damage, where i only had to re laquer and blend the laquer into the bumper you cant tell its been re laquered.

a mini decided to go through a mahoosive puddle in a local village near me, everyone avoided it, but she chanced it, suffice to say the puddle was up over he boonet before she knew it flooded her engine, and she got stuck in the middle of it, she got out luckily because the puddle rose over her roof in mins and buried her car.

    £5000 mini down the drain.
