Rental in Dubai

Hi! Going to Dubai early in January, wanted to rent a car but have issues finding the favorable rate. By the way, is the car necessary for sightseeing and traveling in the UAE? And if so, maybe someone could suggest where to rent it cheaper. Thanks in advance.

From what I've read, it can be difficult and dangerous (poor driving from everyone, police blame all foreigners over Emiratis in accidents...) I guess it depends where in UAE you'll be going, I've only visited Abu Dhabi but taxis were cheap and plentiful, good clean cheap busses, and Dubai also has a metro.

Thanks for your response)) I hope it won't be that scary: "poor driving from everyone, police blame all foreigners over Emiratis in accidents"))0

A car only really needed if you are maybe visiting some of the other Emirates from Dubai.
If its just to see the sights within Dubai, Id opt for public transport and taxis.0 -
We considered car rental whilst there, but found that you can negotiate a daily or hourly rate with the taxi drivers which actually worked out the cheapest mode of transport for us. We were fairly centrally based, and spent most of the time in Dubai itself.0

Hmm, it's interesting about taxis but what if I need to go outside Dubai? And I definitely will)) I think in this case car rental fits more...0

We've rented in Dubai several times, we always use Sixt, but make sure you go to the UAE site, not the UK site to book for UAE http://ae.sixt.com/
You should be able to get a Merc for £60-70 per day, whatever you do go for a Nissan or any other smaller car, you will get bullied on the road because they will know you are a foreigner.
We've never had any problems and have found the reports of bad driving to be somewhat exaggerated, as long as you belnd in in a decent car you should be fine, just avoid peak times.
We drove out to Hatta Fort, which was a great day out and spent a night at the hotel there, and to Abu Dhabi for the day. The car parks are large with good size spaces and all the hotels have valet parking.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I don't know about UAE, but I've rented a car in Jordan once at economybookings.com As one of those aggregators, they provide various deals for car rentals provided by different companies, maybe you will find some good deal there0
