Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1

I just bought one for my boy for Christmas

I was looking at getting an SD card and found this
Samsung 32GB 48 MB/s UHS-1 Grade 0

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-MicroSDHC-Memory-Without-Adapter/dp/B009HPFT14/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2UIAUVJNBVZXR&coliid=I3RH3LNERTDXC5

Will this work with the new Tab, and also recommend a USB adapter so I can load stuff from my clunking old pc

Thanks

  • The 32gb card will work fine, I believe it was £17.99 the throughout the Amazon black Friday week.

As for a usb reader, try searching on amazon for "usb micro sdhc reader" that will give you a whole choice of readers at varying prices.
I have used this one many times in the past and had no issues. Cheap and affective.
  • I wouldnt get that. The Tab2 has a max capacity of 32Gb, and the stock tab at present is 16Gb. Anything more than a 16Gb SD card is wasted. Id look for a 16Gb one unless the tab is an old 8GB one.

the Note would make use of the 32Gb card.

32gb will work fine within the Tab2. I am using the tab 2 7 with a 32gb card and sees it just fine (about 30 or 31 point something, never sees the full 32gb)

i didnt say it wouldnt work - I said it was wasted.

If you put a 32Gb card in a 16Gb tab, you will only be able to use 32Gb even though you actually have 48GB physical memory. If you put a 16Gb card in a 16GB tab - you still get 32 GB. Not that 16GB SD cards are much cheaper - but they are a little.

If this is wrong and you get a total of 48GB storage using a 32GB card, put me right as I dont have a card for mine yet :) but thats how I read the "expandable to 32GB" bit.

The 32gb limit is reference to the cards it can read, the 16gb internal memory is a separate chip. So the 32gb card will work to its full potential as neilwoods said.

Makes no difference what the internal memory is, it is all dependent on what the tablet will support, in this case 32gb, so you will get all 32gb (about 30 or 31)

  • Which Is what I though. Its what the tab supports - ie a max of 32Gb.

if you have the 16Gb Tab 2, just get a 16Gb SD card. it will give the the max memory for the least outlay - assuming you cant get a 32GB card cheaper than a 16GB one.
  • After checking Samsungs Tech specs, the Tab 2 has 16Gb internal memory and is expandable UP TO 32Gb using SD cards. That doesnt mean it will handle a 32Gb card to its full potential- it means it will handle up to 32Gb total memory.

So - I stick by my first thoughts - just get a 16Gb card. There must be LOADS of people reading this wrong and buying 32Gb cards and wasting money (admittedly only £10 or so - but thats £10). Of course if you have a 32Gb card available already, us it - because it costs you nothing.

NO the tech specs state 16/32gb user memory, that means there is 2 versions, 16gb and 32gb.

Then is states microSD (up to 32gb) that means it will support any micro sd card up to 32gb (which is totally separate from the internal memory.

So if placing 32gb in 16gb model, that means you have 16gb of internal memory and 32gb of external memory, so 48gb in total.
