Can anyone tell me how to make sure the nr of years in my police is accurate?
And what if I am not happy... how can I verify the correct nr of years?
I need to renew my car insurance and have an issue with that.
What can I do?

As some insurers only give/take a set maximum number, perhaps five or nine years into account, you can find the number drops when you come to leave such a firm.
For example, if you have 10 years when you join Company A, when you leave Company A a year later, you'll only have five years if that's their maximum.
It's important to keep a copy of each year's renewal/NCD notice, so you have a record of the actual number, not what the insurer uses as its maximum.
For example;-

Whatever is on your renewal is the number of years you have.
Its an issue with some companies recording 9, 12 or more but some only counting upto 5 and anything over that dropping off.
Unless you contact them and get them to send a new renewal or proof of no claims then use that amount.
Most of the time it doesnt make a lot of difference.
Try comparisons with 7, 8 or 9 years. Not a lot in it for me. pennies rather than pounds.
Problem is you say to the new company i have 12, The renewal says 6. They will want more money or give you 7/14 days to ptovide proof or they will cancel the policy.
Then its a panic to sort it. You never want them to cancel your policy.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
