I had Orange broadband, recently I took out virgin as with Orange I was only averging about 2 meg and it dropped out all of the time.

I emailed orange to cancel , at the dnd if my contract in Jan. They replied saying ok but if I dont get the MAC this will be thirty pounds.

I am a bit simples when it comes to this, but can I get the MAC and not do anything or do they want to give into another ISP or will I have to pay the £30 to clear the line?

Taking the MAC and not using it is not really an option as if you don't use it within 30 days, it will expire and Orange will assume you want to stay with them.

If you are moving to Virgin ADSL, take the MAC and pass it on to Virgin.

If it is Virgin cable you are moving to, there's no way to avoid the Orange disconnection fee.

It is the cable, as its already connected.

A bit annoying as I am only cancelling as the line stability isnt goid. They did try and sort it with a new router etc I guess though.

A MAC is not used for ADSL to cable transfers, so a cease charge is unavoidable.
