I have been with Orange BB for years and have to say the service has been OK.
However, I recently negotiated a retention package including home phone and so far:
- The home phone order had not been put through and has been re-started
- The 'new' Brightbox router package does not have the UK three pin plug adapter in. (Tech support first said that I did not need this!!!!)
- The QR code of all my details were on the router package (waiting for reply as this may be against Data Protection law)

That's terrible, they should have sent you a power adapter with the box. Awful customer service. However in the mean time (and I wouldn't normally recommend doing this but if you really want to use it) you can actually use a 2-pin plug in a 3-pin socket. Use another (UK 3 pin) plug upside down to push the earth pin ONLY in (the top of the triangle of 3 holes), this opens up the gates on the other 2 holes so you can jam the 2-pin plug in. Then remove the 1st (UK 3 pin) plug and Robert is your mother's brother.
As I say I can't recommend doing this from a safety POV but if you are REALLY desperate to use the BrightBox before you get an adapter it will work fine (I have a Wii with a european 2-pin plug and we have been jimmying it like this for five years because we are so lazy). Once plugged in it is no safer/less safe than the usual adapter as there is still no earth connection from the plug to the box, even if you are using an adapter and not the "hobo method" outlined above.

Thanks, Roboticpink
Unfortunately it is neither a 2 or 3 pin plug but a power head with a unique slip on head fitting to take a variety of pinned heads unlike anything I have seen before.
As it outputs 12v at 1 amp it is the same as a Netgear router PSU...but, of course, the plug is bigger!!!
As a Chartered Engineer in electronics, I have to give a 'naughty wag' at your 'hobo fix'!!

Well that's just annoying... what on earth are they playing at? I guess as we move away from proprietary chargers for mobiles they are playing with ones for your AC supply now...
My b/f is definitely not an electronic engineer and definitely did not suggest the hobo fix outlined in my original post0
