What a load of nonsense these new boards are!

I'm sorry to have to say it but I really think MSE has made an absolute mess of the new boards.
In my view they have shown a real lack of understanding of their members. For example to have a board called moneysaving Dads, where new Dad's can discuss the price of nappies etc. (Yes, that's what MSE Andrea said!)
I've been a long term lurker (Years) and have contributed many times to boards that had a brilliant mix of people (Male & Female, Mum's & Dads, Single & Couples, Straight & Gay, In relationships & Single Etc Etc) but I'm afraid this notion that can only be seen as what appears to be an attempt at segregation is utter nonsense and is clearly not wanted by a significant majority of the members of these forums.
Hang your head in shame MSE! Or at least explain yourself, you've taken to introducing a new forum, being flamed and then disappearing!
Also, Martin - where are you in all this? Are you happy with this?

Its hardly segregation , no one is going to vet your age sex and marital status before allowing you to postVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

As an ex-owner of a busy forum I can speak from experience. On my site we were always trying new ideas, (like plugins), and forum areas. Sometimes they worked and were popular, other times they didn't and we removed them again after a 2 or 3 month trial.
I think if the new setup is not popular then it will soon be changed.Pants0 -

I appreciate that pelirocco but the reality is there are two new forums, Moneysaving Mums & Moneysaving Dads. Why? What is the thinking behind that? No one has explained that yet. The very nature of how these boards are named suggests that Dad should post in one and Mum in the other!
As I've said before... nonsense!0 -

I would have no issue with this warehouse but if that was the case then why didn't MSE say... "Hi guys, we are going to experiment with the boards in an attempt to improve them, this is what we are thinking, what do you think?"0 -

Also, whilst no one is going to vet you, the names of the boards suggest who should post in them or more importantly who should not!
I'm a moneysaving dad who is married to a moneysaving mum and quite frankly when I want advice on something moneysaving I want the thoughts of moneysaving mums and dads!! The new forum name suggests to me that I should NOT post in the moneysaving mums forum.
MSE has tried to fix something that wasn't broken and that sort of thing in any environment really gets on my nerves to be honest!0 -
So do couples now have to post twice, once in each board?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I've settled down now after my initial rant! I know there were some changes last week that have since been changed to suit forum members a little better.
However I really do think that moneysaving mums and dads is so so silly. I don't know whose idea it was but judging by the total lack of posting going on I really hope MSE see sense, return the forums to their previous glory and consult the members in order to come up with changes, as the forum team clearly want to make changes (although I don't know why!).0 -

this is the key - we should all just continue to post in the main bit and ignore the mums and dads sections at the top. Simples
Mind you, would have been easier if they'd left well enough alone :mad:Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg
