Would anyone recommend please a show for my mum and her friend in their late 50s? I don't want to send them off to some dodgy show or a dodgy bar/restaurant for 20 somethings that they wont enjoy! :D :rotfl: Thanks! :p

I went to see Dancing in the streets (the story of Motown) and I would highly reccomend it . The audience consisted of men and women from 10-90 and they were all dancing, it was excellent. We went to the Katana International on Trafalgar Sq (about 5 mins from the theatre) and the pre theatre menu was fab. The whole evening was only £20 each with lastminute.com and I would highly reccomend it . On another afternoon I went to see "sing along with Joseph" and that was a hoot. You learn all the "actions" and it is a real good laugh.

Good luck with whatever you choose .

I was just about to book the LOTR £20 deal, but looked up some reviews of the Fire & Stone restaurant and was rather put off :(

It doesn't sound all that nice unfortunately.

If you fancy a Pizza - then you are okay. The deal was (when I went last November) choose a pizza off the main menu https://www.fireandstone.c0m/pizzas.asp and a side salad (basically a bowl of leaves ;-) ) But the pizzz I had was really quite nice :p .

I've booked for the blue man group with dinner st Sway - has anywhere been there recently? Read quite a few bad reviews on the customer service, but its £22.50 for just the ticket so think it's worth the risk for £20!

Thanks for the information. I might well do it, although I'm not sure how much a Balcony view would affect a show like the LOTR...!

Can I also recommend the Theatremonkey site.

If you click on latest special offers on the left they list loads of special offers for many many shows. You can then seek out your own food arrangements and are not lumbered with Balcony seats like many of these deals.

Their 'Best Seat info' is invaluable as it gives loads of deatail on the best places to sit in each West End theatre.

Alternatively if you are in London check out TKTS which is the website for the official Leicester Square Ticket Office (beware the rip off merchants around the square). You can see what they have on offer at half price from 10am each day.

My BF & I did the Fire & Stone meal and Stomp! at the Vaudeville for £20 each in January. The meal was very nice (as previously mentioned, pizza & salad included in the deal), pizza was nothing like what I cook from the freezer!
The balcony seats gave a poor view of the stage but in fairness we had been warned that we had a restricted view for a portion of the show. The show was great but I feel that we missed out on a lot of the audience participation and the atmosphere; because of the restricted view a lot of people around us started to get bored and fidgety.

I don't trust anything coming from them. We booked an Easter Break to Venice last year, and when we got there, the hotel didn't have our reservation, everything was fully booked everywhere else and we ended up having to pay a fortune to stay at a much more expensive hotel and guess what: LASTMINUTE.COM refused to pay.

These people, sell holidays, tickets, etc THEY DON'T HAVE and then, when they have your money, they try to book it, what happens is that sometimes your choice of holiday or ticket, has run out and they only let you know on the day or the day before, or like in my case, not at all.

With this offer, you could very well end up going all the way to London, to find out that you don't have a reservation in that restaurant, and if you go somwhere else, they will not pay the difference!

    DONT RISK IT!!!!!

Used them hundreds of times for theatre, restaurants, goods purchases and holidays. Never had a single problem myself.
  • lolaburro - I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience but I have to agree with kevinyork. And you've only got to look through the messages here to see this deal seems to be okay.

I'm going to test it out for myself and take my partner for an extra birthday treat. I'll let you know how we get on...

I took up this offer last night. Went to see Evita and ate at Maxwells.

Maxwells was really nice food, you get 2 courses (starter and main) and if you have any room left you can buy a dessert for £3. Choice of about 5 starters and 5 mains including burger and pasta and a a few vege options.

We were really lucky at the theatre as becuase it wasnt that full they upgraded our tickets to the dress cirlcle (these tickets normally cost over £45!). We had a good view and the show was good. Elena Roger is fantastic!
