If the company said they'll train you but you had to sign a contract saying if you leave within x period of time you'll have to pay back training fees then it's legit. Paying upfront is not legit.
  • I'm still at a loss here about why the op thinks they should be in IT with no IT experience.

I have quite a bit of experience with computers and programming in a few languages yet when I was here asking for advice on getting into it for work I got slated left, right and centre and told I was an over confident script kiddie.

How come someone with no IT experience suddenly gets so much support?

They are getting support because other members dont want them to get scammed.

As for the OP thinking he should be in IT with no experience well that is nothing to do with you is it?
  • Why don't you post again - I'd give you proper advice
  • Oddly enough I applied with a very similar thing in Birmingham about 3 weeks back!! I was having a crap day and thought hell, I like computers!

Applied (not the same company, but same sort of 'opportunity')- got a call back within a day. How lucky I am to get an interview...

They called again. And again. And again. Just confirming my attendance at interview in two weeks...

Called and spoke to some sort of late hours staff member one evening after work on the off chance who basically told me that 74 people were attending the 'interview'....

74?! I asked what they did...

    Poor lad wasn't even sure!

    Definately not a good plan!

A good point well made, I was just surprised that no-one was pouncing on the op giving them a hard time about lack of experience etc.
  • Sounds like they are actually selling entry-level IT training, with the carrot of a posssible job at the end - which either won't materilise or will require further 'training' to progress, chargeable to the 'employee', though they may make out they are contributing to the cost of training....

My husband recently did this course, paid the £150 up front and then a large monthly fee. He recieved the books and CDs straightaway so we though it was legit. He did all of the studying online but once he had completed the course, he didn't hear anything from Echo who were supposed to be giving him a certified Coomp TIA A+ Qualification as well as guaranteeing they would place in into employment.

I am now chasing Echo to resolve this as it's cost us a fortune, my husband is still unemployed and we've spent all our savings on this course.

I'm sure you all think we are daft for not looking into it properly but like others have said, the offices looked well maintained and the advisor seemed legit.

Would anyone be able to help me get back the money we have paid as we are quickly losing hope.

    Thanks
