OK, I've now seen the post about Kinetic, their website was registered in April, also in Birmingham (despite the Canary Wharf address on their Contact Us). I can't see anything about jobs on their website, where is the advert that you responded to? I would be dubious of a supposed technology company that still has a web page that says "Register for Aug 29 webcast" in November (and if there was a link there at some point it's no longer there).0

Do you actually have a conditional job offer contingent on gaining a qualification?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
If you google on bits of text from their website you find it duplicates (and I suggest has been pinched from) other websites...But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Melbourne Technologies certainly claim to offer training courses, although their website has only been registered since August and it looks like they may have been called Echo IT Training at some point. Actually, I've delved a bit deeper and it's a copy of the Echo website, which was itself registered in 2010 but both have the same address in Birmingham.
The question is, who is it that will employ you after you have done the training? Is it Melbourne themselves, is it whoever has advertised the trainee position, or is it just that the advert says you'll get a job without guaranteeing anything? I would certainly be wary of handing over any money without getting some more answers.
Thankyou So much for your replies...Interview was with kinetic who I think will be the employers training is through melbourne..but reading above seems like they are all the same..Think its time for me to put my feet back on the ground and accept its a scam...

Hello slickc2100, I have been in the IT industry for years and am also an employer. I have never heard of a company asking you to pay to do training. If they are willing to pay you £18000 on employment then why ask you to pay for the training. Even if it was legit I wouldn't work for a company that is not willing to invest in it's staff. What stopping them from after 3 months telling you that you need to do another course and pay £3000?? Worse still that they will deduct from your pay.. All seems very odd. You are right to post and ask. If IT is what you would like to do and you feel that you need more experience then work as a trainee. That normally means that you will not earn £18000 but you will get there with some hard work.0
