I am actually very glad I did ask and was not lured into this as honestly it all looks and seems above aboard!!

If they are willing to pay you £18000 on employment then why ask you to pay for the training. Even if it was legit I wouldn't work for a company that is not willing to invest in it's staff. What stopping them from after 3 months telling you that you need to do another course and pay £3000?? Worse still that they will deduct from your pay.. All seems very odd. You are right to post and ask. If IT is what you would like to do and you feel that you need more experience then work as a trainee. That normally means that you will not earn £18000 but you will get there with some hard work.
Thanks johnny anywhere you could reccomend???

I'm not sure, but I'd start with trading standards.slickc2100 wrote: »I am actually very glad I did ask and was not lured into this as honestly it all looks and seems above aboard!!

OP, as with the general advice so far this opportunity looks very much like a scam, so would advise against parting with any money.
If you have your sights set on a career in IT the first thing you should ask yourself is what knowledge your have of IT; do you have good working knowledge of hardware, software/OS etc, what type of role do you see yourself in given your experience / knowledge level?
In my experience new starters to the industry (with little or no experience) usually being life in helpdesk / service desk environment and progress to more senior support roles after a couple of years of hard work and dedication.0 -
I'm a Head of IT and have worked with dozens of suppliers. Looking at that Kinetic website I would definitely say it's a scam. For a start, aside from recruitment they offer other services but don't actually say what they are - no mention of technologies and the links to webinars don't even work.
Definitely avoid. And if I ever find myself with a spare five minutes I'll call them as a potential customer and wind them up a bit0 -
Oh, and the spelling mistakes on that site are also pretty shocking!0

OTE says it all. It's on TARGET in other words that money isn't guaranteed pay at all. In the world of IT I've never heard of people having to sell things or meet turnover targets so I would be highly suspicious of anything that shows OTE in the advert which you would normally associate with a commission based role.0 -

Hello Slick, I can recommend but it all depends on:- Where you are located and want to work?
- How old you are?
- What qualifications you have so far?
- What experience you have so far?
- Ultimately what kind of role you would like?

This board prohibits exchanges of personal details. I think you would be crazy to send this information to an unknown person with less than 10 posts, who might be an identity thief or any other kind of con artist.
jonnysearle, if by any remote chance you are a genuine prospective employer, please be aware that asking people their age before considering whether to employ them is illegal under UK law.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
