Is this legal

I spotted this on a sign posted by a PPC. Vehicles parking or waiting on this land not displaying a valid parking permit and a road tax disc. It goes on to make the usual threats. This is on private land.Who gave them this authority.

Any old excuse - it's the same as saying they'll ticket any car missing a hubcap! Means nothing at all - but it gives them another reason to issue a fake PCN.

Could be worth reporting to the DVLA because there would NOT be 'reasonable cause' to get a registered keepers' data just because they might not be displaying their tax disc. It's legal for a car to be taxed online on 31st of a month and then for the disc to take up to 5 working days to arrive. Doesn't make it an untaxed car as we all know.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

They don't have the authority for this, actually more to the point they have no authority at all. This is just just another scam point for them, for example your tax disc has become unstuck is laying on the dashboard, okay according to the scammers that is worthy of a fake invoice. That should be ignored of course if you get one.

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • The vehicle was taxed.I just thought how much front do these people have

I suppose if a landowner wants to make displaying a tax disc a condition of parking that's up to him - his land, his rules, even if they are silly.

Quite how the fact that an otherwise welcome car was not displaying a tax disc would cause him to suffer a loss is another matter entirely though - which makes the PPC ticket even sillier than it would normally be.

Of course his rules, like red cars park on the right, blue cars on the left. It doesn't make it any more enforceable though, it actually has nothing to to do with the parking company or landowner. This is just on signs to make it look like they have authority, something I pointed out to the DVLA on the complaint I made about Excel's signs.

BUT, if the car is untaxed and is sorn then it can only be parked on private land with the owners permission otherwise the dvla could issue a fine.
