Coming to end of 1st contract...
Options
I'm on Orange 24 month contract which ends on 2/1/13. It's 500 mins, unlimited texts & unlimited data for £24.50 (up from £22.50 when I first switched from PAYG).
I want a Samsung Galaxy S3 & don't want to pay more than £25 per month. I've already looked around for deals but when I should contact Orange? Also I really need to change my mobile number so will that make a big difference?

phone them up 30 days before the end of hyour contract and say u want to leave they should put u through to retentions
cant say wot deals as it dpeends on usageWhat goes around-comes around0 -
If you need a new number then I'd try the indies - P4u and CPW. No need to be loyal to Orange, or use their sales team if you don't plan on doing a straight upgrade. Often the networks charge for a number change unless you have a crime reference number.0

The previous poster was correct, contact Orange 30 days before the end of the contract (so beginning of December) and give notice. If you want a new number, I think your best bet is just to get a new contract.0

Thanks for all the info. I think I might keep the number for now to do a straight upgrade & then change it later. It costs £12 to change numbers on Orange which I don't mind~ I just really want the S3!!0

It doesn't have to cost £12 , it is clear the better deals are for new customers, if you think the mobile companies are going to beg for your custom, you maybe in for a shock
If you want a top handset with plenty of airtime, the reality is you may not get a package for £25 on a retention deal0 -

Do you really need a contract?
The S3 is £400 at Expansys (You may get it cheaper thats the first place I thought of).
Tesco Mobile do a 150 minute / 5000 texts / 1GB deal for £10 a month with 30 days notice, or up the minutes to 250 if you sign up for a year, (and up them more if you have two phones or more on one account)
Total cost over 24 months is is £640 which equates to just over £26 but gives you flexibility if you want to move to the S4 when it comes out, or chancge you contract at shorter notice
Most similar tarriffs come in at around £30+ a month with the networks, all the lower priced deals have limited data allowance
Remember if you want the 4G speeds the S3 LTE is capable of you need that version (the LTE not Std) and it has to be on EE for now.0 -

I agree with buying the phone outright but imo there are better SIM only deals out there (which don't use o2 which doesn't have the best reliability record at the moment).
Virgin £10/mth gives you:
250 minutes
Unlimited texts
1GB Mobile Web
plus tethering at no extra cost
If the OP really does want u/l data £12/mth gives you:
150 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited Mobile Web (truly unlimited but speed limiting kicks in after 10gb is used in one month)
Again, tethering allowed as standard
All 30 days rolling and use EE/tmobile/whatever it's called this week.
