Best route to go with?

Options
Hi all,

I'm sorting our my father's contract for him, since he's not in the know-how about which phones are good etc.
I've been looking around at different plans and everything, since it's his upgrade/leaving time with Three and he needs a new phone and a lot of minutes due to work.

Currently he gets for £15
900 Mix and Match points
5000 3-to-3 minutes
2GB Data (which he rarely uses due to Wifi)

He almost always goes over on his plans, and when speaking to Three's team, they seem to not care about loyalty anymore and offer him EXACTLY what is on the website, or a plan with a cheap phone.

He would need atleast 1500~ minutes, and 3 do not seem to do anything other than their One plan at £25 p/m Sim Only :/

I've been thinking about going with Virgin, on their £20 premiere Sim Only, giving 2500 minutes and unlimited Landlines, texts and web, which will be £17 due to my discount, and buy a Nexus 4 for £239 separately.

Would this be a good route to go with? I'm annoyed that Three really aren't offering anything due to him being a customer for years, but I guess times are tough now.

Please also feel free to post any other offers you think would be suitable with a good phone (Androids like the S3 or Nexus 4 would be preferred, or any on par with them)

Thanks in advance! :)

  • One word of advice - if anyone here can F up a bill it's Virgin.

That said, the solution of simo and nexus 4 seems a resonable one. o2 on and on is the same for a 12mo deal, though of course having a Virgin ll gets you no kudos there.

    Or tesco mobile sim-only?

17.50 for 1500 mins on a 12 month contract. £20 if you choose to have it on a 1 month deal. They also do 3000 mins for £25.

My girlfriend and I have been on tesco for a while, no drastic problems to report.

He can also tether on the Virgin SIM. My son has the £17 one with 1200 mins and he's made up with it as he doesn't have a land line so tethers away. No problem with billing so far. SIM only wise they seem pretty unbeatable at the moment (their phone contracts are really expensive though). The Nexus 4 for £239 is also pretty unbeatable as well (altho I would be tempted to go for the 16gb one at £279 due to the non-expandable memory).
