Impatient buyer in Netherlands leaving neg after 4 days

I have just received a neg from a buyer in the Netherlands because an item I posted (the same day he paid) has not been received . The item was posted airmail small packet, with proof of postage but it was only posted 4 working days ago.
He has not communicated with me at all, just left a negative.
Apart from asking him to wait a few more days, checking the sorting office, confirming his address details and offering to send another if it it not received, is there anything else I can be doing?
I'm hoping if I am nice to him and the item turns up soon he will remove the neg otherwise I am stuck with it and nothing I can do.

I would also be trying my luck with getting ebay to remove it if all else fails.

I already have Soolin, they expect me to bend over backwards to help (Which I would anyway), phone him, offer refund or send replacement then hope he will remove the comment.
I would have been lucky for a UK buyer to have received the item within 4 working days.
  • My unhappy buyer has just told me that he considers the item late because the other item he bought the same day has arrived, what he didn't tell me but I found out, is that the other item was sent within the Netherlands.

Ebay are trying to get us to sell more overseas yet are unwilling to do anything about idiots like that.

Did you use the report a buyer feature. Apparantely its for unreasonable demands from buyers.

Any normal person can see the buyer is an idiot - who should be thrown off. But Ebay employ the same sort of idiot, from what i can gather.
  • how absurd. i had a similar issue with a hard-to-please dutch buyer - but on amazon. i don't normally sell internationally but since they contacted me direct. i accomodated them by changing listing and went out of my way to post signed delivery. the item was sent gift-wrapped with a tag thanking them in dutch etc. after 3 yrs of selling on amazon they skewer my 100% status by giving me only 4 out of 5. the first time this has ever happened to me (thankfully i've been so far lucky with feedback). won't be selling to the netherlands again! bets of luck with ebay

I don't usually have problems with buyers from the Netherlands but I did have one humdinger about a year ago- exactly the same as this scenario a 'where is my item' email on about day 3 swiftly followed by a claim on day 4.

I did block The Netherlands for a while (out of spite I rather think) but decided that every country is allowed an idiot.

Mine was France. Threatening a claim after 3 days - 2 of which were Saturday and Sunday.

I have just started allowing worldwide shipping again - after i stopped due to too many irrational buyers. I may regret it, but so far so good. Even my Italy item arrived safe. I did, however, get a "where is my item" email from the USA - 5 days after posting. I explained how the post works (i take to post office, man picks it up, sorts it, send it on a big aeroplane, cos he lives in a place called overseas etc :rotfl:). Not heard anything since, and it was 3 weeks ago - so fingers crossed.

I was worried when one guy from USA bought 3 items. I normally send recorded over £10, and this was £30. But i begrudge paying the silly overseas signed for fees - when they don't even update online. Just got feedback after 8 days - so good performance by Royal Mail.

I do feel it is a bit much when we have to explain to people that the UK is an Island and therefore mail actually needs to travel 'overseas to reach them. I am sure that some people forget.

  • In my experiance american buyers assume that everyone on eBay is an american... the thought that there might be human beings living outside their borders is almost too much for them..

After my call to ebay went on deaf ears yesterday and receiving the buyers email today telling me why he left a negative I used the Report a buyer feature and am waiting for a response.

He appears to have left feedback for a few items yesterday morning, another was a UK purchase but was purchased 10 days before mine so plenty of time to get there before he left feedback.

I'm sure the majority of us on here provide good customer service to our customers, is it too much to ask to get a similar service from ebay for us?
