Just thought I'd let you know the outcome as you have all been so helpful. I spoke to my estate agent in the morning, and it turns out that they knew nothing of the other estate agent ringing me asking for money. However, he did not sound surprised to hear which estate agent it was, in fact he said it was typical of them. Anyway, kept our heads down yesterday and hoped that everyone would be willing to exchange. I'm happy to say that all 5 of us in the chain completed our exchange of contracts yesterday, without any further mention of the extra money being paid. What I'm amazed by is that this estate agent is obviously well known for these sorts of tricks. Obviously, I haven't lost out this time, but I think that my buyer actually agreed. Would be good to know if I could report this to someone. I know estate agents aren't regulated, but surely there must be some way to complain. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone0
