I take my hat off to to Oobedoo. I think that the whole health system needs to be proactive about weight loss etc, after all it is one thing saying to people 'loose weight', but not giving the means of healping this happen. Eg - smokers have free acces to smoking cessation, should not the same apply to other health conditions?
At our GPs we have a programme called aspire 2 health - we have a qualified health and fitness officer who runs 2 gym sessions in the surgery each week - so in effect you are benfitting from a personal trainer, with all the latest equipment for £1.80 per session. It's only available to people for 'health reasons' - like me for example who should be about 8 stone lighter!!0 -
Thank you girls, I really do appreciate your genuine nice comments.
The band helps, it doesn't make the excess weight fall off. I still have to work hard, there are ways that it can be sabataged(sp) but I want to live to see my children grow into adults, I don't want to have my feet amputated due to diabetes.
The band gives you more help, it's not a magic wand. Already I am thinking more about food, eating till I am satisfied. Making good food choices and I have joined a gym, and am having my induction tomorrow. I am jumping with energy. I am so much happier and confident, things can only get better!!!!!:j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :T .Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0 -

I will ignore your ignorant comments. Obesity is a disease. I once lost 5 stone, but put it all back on again as 95% of dieters do. Dieting doesn't work for most people. Sufferers of obesity need real solutions, not judgement.0 -

From looking around the net people with a BMI of over 40 should qualify. However, due to funding issues many areas only offer surgery to the most serious cases with a BMI of over 60. That is really shocking as to have a BMI of 60 I would need to be over 10 stone heavier than I am now, and I already have a serious weight problem.
Even a BMI of 40 is very high. Mine is 38 and I don't know anyone in real life who is heavier than I am, so only a very few must qualify.0 -

Hiya,Just thought I would update you all as I have had a few PM’s.
I have put 3lbs on, but this is due to me going to the gym 4 times a week and sweating my !!!! off like a sweaty thing and doing various cv, weights. I have managed to do 25 minutes on the treadmill, and about a million sit ups. As I said about the weight gain but my clothes are loser on me, and I saw my friend in Tesco today and she reckons my body shape is changing and I am getting boobs(must be the weights!)Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0
