Simple question - does anyone know if an Ovivo sim will work in an Asda mobile phone? I know they both use the Vodafone network.
I've tried a T-mobile sim in my Asda phone and not joy, so the handset appears to be locked to prevent this. Not sure if another sim using Vodafone network will be OK though?
Cheers.

Any network that uses Vodafone should work0

If it doesn't work, just unlock the phone. Most android phones can be unlocked relatively easily, but there are a few where you need code in which case you can get it for around £5 on ebay.0

The phone in question is far too dumb/old to run Android.
It's a handset I'm about to replace with a new one, but was considering getting an Ovivo sim for it to keep as an emergency phone.0 -
Nine times out of ten, calls and texts should work fine as it is the same parent network. However, asda/ovivo use a different process to connect to the internet so you'd have to have the phone unlocked if you wanted to use it for that purpose.
You can google unlock codes for most phones.0 -
I don't know for sure, but I think that Asda used to sell phones locked to the network, but now no longer do, so as yours isn't working with T-mobile it sounds like it's from before that change.
And although both Asda and Ovivo use Vodafone, there are two network locks and they pertain to both the main network and the mvno provider. So you'd be ok trying this on Ovivo with a Vodafone locked phone, but not one locked on Asda.
For a first port of call it might be worth asking Asda about unlocking the phone. Second best option ask someone to recommend a site they have actually used.
Some of the sites found at random with a Google search are rather dodgy, and spammed all over the place so as to promote them higher in search results.0
