Go to sleep!

Why do I always stay awake late into the night when I have loads of things to do the next day? Why can I not be bothered to lose weight even though I'm very over weight, unhappy and fed up?

You can't do it because you are unhappy - you need motivation and to feel better about yourself, the two go hand in hand and you cannot do one without the other.

Have you tried to lose weight? If you tried and lost half a stone this would give you motivation and raise your self esteem.

As for the sleep question..... why can I never get back to sleep unless the kids are awake and I can't, LOL. It's the age old question!!

Could you afford to have Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Ive known people to have fantastic results from this.

You're totally demotivated atm. I do wonder why you can be bothered to find food if you are that unhappy though.

Make small changes and the rest will follow.

Its called comfort eating, and lots of people engage in this when they are feeling stressed, bored or lonely to cheer themselves up, and we learn it at an early age. When we were babies we cried and our mothers comforted us with their milk, As we grew older we were given treats for comfort, or when we hurt ourselves, so we were learning that food could make us feel better, and the early lessons in life always stay with us.

You sound like I felt. Do you get mad with yourself? It's like self-sabotage. I sometimes thought I didn't deserve any better. You know what you're doing is wrong but can't seem to do a thing about it.

What is keeping you up late into the night? From the way your post is worded it sounds as if you have a choice and could be going to bed earlier. So are you up working, tidying the house, or just worried and unable to sleep?

Why do you feel unhappy and fed up? Addressing all these issues will mean you will sleep better, feel rested and more motivated about things in general. You will have the energy and drive to excercise and think about eating a healthy diet. With small changes you could gradually lose weight and this in itself would be a boost to you and your confidence.

    Hope you are okay :)
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
  • I guess I stay up because I can't be bothered to go to bed. Unless I have work then I'm asleep at a decent hour. Weight has crept up so slowly I hardly notice, which is worrying. I am going to join slimming world tomorrow and give it a go. Thanks all for thoughts.
