Tell me more please thesaint!Although the starting point is 20% of your income, you should be receiving a reduction for every night that you have your children, are you not receiving this?
No, mine was a non CSA arrangement although I have been threatened with CSA because my from time to time my ex and her new OH says she doesn't believe I am honest about my income. Very nasty threat that BTW, after all the fairness I have dished out.
If my arrangement was administered by the CSA, then what kind of adjustment to the 20% (for 2 kids) formula would be made for 130 nights a year when the kids are with me? In periods of unemployment I have paid 20% of my JSA and Child Tax Credit to them too (they earned too much to qualify for Child Tax Credit themselves).
I am interested, because my income is likely to rise shortly and I want to put an ultimatum to my ex because I think they have failed to properly invest £10,000 for the kids which was specially earmarked in the settlement. They have co-mingled it with their own funds (on which they get taxed) and say things like "we need the interest to pay the kids dentist" or "we need it to pay for new school uniform" or "we need it to pay for a school trip" every time I ask how much interest has been earned and whether separate accounts have been set up yet in their names so they can get gross interest.
I will tell them that unless they set up the new accounts immediately I will not be increasing my maintenance when my income goes up (and any downwards adjustment that might apply for 130 nights might also get retrospectively sorted!) I shall open accounts myself for the children and pay in the differences to make up for the money I think has been stolen from the kids £10,000.0 -

You can try the CSA calculator to find out how much you should be paying, or if you post your situation on the child support board you will get clearer information than what I can provide, but the reduction is based on how many nights you have your children per week, I believe that you can average it out over a longer period.
When you are not working, the CSA would deduct £5 per week from you in total, so you have been very generous.
If you do make up the money, that you believe has gone missing from your kids accounts, do not tell the ex or the kids, as the ex will dip into it knowing that you will top it up out of your money.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0
