Please be aware that when booking with Virgin Atlantic, the details from your Frequent Flyer Account are auto filled into the online screen.

My wife's name "Jacky" was autofilled instead of "Jacqueline". In my haste of booking and ensuring that I got the correct dates and times I did not spot "my" error.

So, you will be charged £30 to change my E-Ticket for something that you never entered.

    Useful advice.

You need to appreciate that most of the posters above who provide their advice have never , ever made a mistake in their entire lives so feel well qualified to pontificate about what you, as a newbie with the best of intentions, have to say.

It may be worth writing to Virgin requesting a refund and explaining what happened if you have not already done so.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

    MMMM

All the posters above pointed out that it isnt a con and also suggested speaking to Virgin imediatley (if the booking has only just been made) not writing to them

Um, auto fill is controlled by your browser, not the website.

Everyone makes mistakes, its only human of course, but I've never felt the need to make a mistake and then join a forum to tell everyone about the mistake that I had just made as the OP was at fault here not virgin.

Everybody makes mistakes, how people deal with them is another question. People like the OP apparently prefers to blame someone else, others are willing to look in the mirror and accept that they screwed up.

Personally when I'm spending hundreds/thousands of pounds on a flight, I find 'haste' is a bad approach

I'm going to be charged £30 to change your ticket?! Now that is a con!
  • Just a couple of points:-
    • Many thanks to those who understood the point I was making
    • Availability of Frequent Flyer "Free Flights" is extremely limited and it took me hours to find 4 available on the same plane. I used both my wife's FF points and mine so had to use 2 computers hence my haste!
    • The details are autofilled by Virgin Atlantic and NOT by my browser.
    • It is impossible to change your name on the Virgin FF details online.
    • I have been a member of Virgin FF for over 20 years.
    • I called Virgin Atlantic but they were unwilling to help.
    • £30 is not representative of 5 minutes work of a Virgin Representaive, so if it's not a con what is it?

So who's fault was it for not checking the details prior to finalising the flight details?

You can do it over the phone which is free, bar the cost of the call, and easy.

And your point is? do you want a badge or something?

Do you get everything at cost in your world? I bought a sandwich from pret at lunch time and im pretty sure the ingredients and man power that went in to it didn't cost £4.59
