BT - Additional Card Holder ?

Hi Folks ! I have a 0% BT card with a fair amount of unused funds available but on the T&C it states that only cards held in my name are available to be transferred to , no inhouse cards , my query is if i make my o/h an additional Card Holder could we then make BT`s to some of her CC `s ?
I understand i will be liable for any monies transferred , no problem , just wanted to clarify the "additional card holder " would be eligble to have a transfer made from the main a/c holders card a/c ?
Phew !
Cheers Guys !

The Credit Card company wont know who the card you are paying of belongs to as it only goes by the credit card number not the name....
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
  • An additional card holder has no rights whatsoever - so don't see what difference it would make to you in this case.

Sorry ? where do "Rights " come into the equation ?

What is most important is the company you are transferring to and from is not the same, or the same group of companies. The other issue is that some lenders won't allow balance transfers between accounts in different names - but most do.

The fact that the other person is also an additional card holder has no relevance though

As others have posted it means that you as the main card holder is responsible for all debt on the card whether it was incurred by you or the secondary cardholder.
A secondary cardholder cannot transfer funds from or to your account.
  • OP - I think the answer is that making your OH an additional cardholder on your account will not make them eligible to transfer funds because they are still not the account holder. Your T&Cs will still apply.

You could try just transferring funds anyway and hoping that BT don't find out but you'd be no end of trouble if they did and decided to pursue you!

This is not what the OP is asking. The OP is asking whether he can transfer between two accounts in different names and suggesting he might need to add the 2nd person as an additional cardholder in order to facilitate such a transfer. You don't.

The additional cardholder is irrelevant. A BT takes place between two accounts that don't have to be in the same name (usually although some lenders restrict transfers to same name only)

I was answering exactly what the OP is asking. His T&Cs say that he can only transfer to cards in his name (he says in his post).....and is asking if adds his OH as an additional cardholder if balance transfers can then be made to his OH's cards.

My apologies. I missed that important sentence. You are right. Not sure why T&Cs would specify that and then let you add anyone you liked to circumvent their own rules.

I assumed he was adding the OH as an additional cardholder to link them and backup the legitimacy of a BT to another CC held in the OH's name
