Tiscali Broadband Connection

Hi

I have just connected to my broadband connection via a Sagem Modem. I need to connect a laptop to the same broadband connection.

Do I need a network card in the laptop as well as a router or just a 4 port router which I think would cost about £60.00?

Cheers

James

Suggest having a read of various online guides to sharing an ADSL connection (ie your broadband link) - eg http://www.adslguide.org.uk/qanda.asp?faq=HomeNet#Q77

Simplest/cheapest solution is usually to link the modem via USB to your desktop, and then link your PC's Ethernet port to the Laptop's Ethernet port (assuming it has one!) ; wiring the two together with a standard RJ45 crossover cable (see the grab it while you can Dell cables accessories offer, there's 5metre cables there delivery for £1.50'ish available to order until Monday). Once connected using the Internet Connection Sharing on WindowsXP etc to make it work. Total cost less than £2 this weekend!

The best laptop experience would of course be to have a WIRELESS link which will get you into more expense and complexity but a lot more convenience.
