Samsung Galaxy S3 no predictive text key, please help ??
Options
I have got a new S3, but it seem to lack the XT9 key on the 3x4 keypad? So, with the portrait keyboard style set as 3x4 and predictive text enabled, I can write a text with predictive text working.
On my old phone (LG Optimus 1) i could press the " XT9" key (next to 0 key) to turn predictive text on/off whilst writing the text message
on theS3 this does not appear to be available ( ICS 4.1.1), and i have to go into settings, and then toggle predictive text on/off each time.
Can i some how get the "XT9" key back or press a diffrent key to switch between predictive text on/off, whilst writing the text message, or will i have to continue going into settings each time? thanks

well with predictive text leave it on and keep writing if word is not in there just click the word you have written in blue on the selection line and it adds it into the library as you go even if the word shown above in the message above it will change it. i have found no need to turn off as it learns as it goes next time you use word it finds it no problems just takes a little while for it to learn words if needed and then becomes much faster. where as if you keep turning off it learns nothing and is not really predictive in the end if you see what i'm saying. was on ics works ok there also now running jb if you check software update as well.0

Seriously, get Swype beta (online) or Swiftkey (Google play) and use either of those instead of the stock keyboard.0

It seems that maybe the only way on that handset, the 1st time I read your post I was not sure if you meant predictive was not available on the device, but I had another play with one yesterday and it seems as you describe. Out of interest, you are aware you can just tilt the handset to offer a qwerty keyboard for those rare moments you wish to enter none standard words?0 -
Give Swiftkey a try, it's amazing and I think it's on sale this weekend. I only paid 69p a few months ago. It learns your most used words and predicts them without you even typing the first letter0
