Don't want to be the mean person here, but I don't really like it. Its just something about it, following me up and down the page, that really annoys me.

I did notice something about that link it says Hey, Tony H, you have ........new messages. I started to think I had got into your account! lol

I too was worried about that for a short while after posting the link.

Wirm, I fully appreciate what you're saying about it following you. But there have been occassions when I have been at the bottom of a very long thread just wanting that menu to be there to save me precious seconds having to scroll back up to get it.

Sorry Tony - I am amazed at your technical geniusness but find the bar a bit distracting.
I want the bar to disappear when I am looking at stuff in "chat".

It's not my technical genius, the code to perform that action is available from Dynamic Drive. Code settings have to be changed to fit with the website's sizings etc.

Thinking about how to make it dissapear when not needed!! ;D

Like it too, Tony solves the lack of "back to top" button, but.... it covers and prevents peeps subscribing to MSE Tips email. could this be overcome?

Hi, I don't like the way it moves down the page either. However, I do like the idea of having convenient access to this, as you say Tony, it is a pain when you are a long way down a list of posts. So maybe an icon that could be clicked on to call up the options, or a way to switch it off/on?

What about having a back to top button instead?

I am not fussed either way as the scrolling box is used on a few sites hp for example but sometimes it is annoying with a v long post to scrool back up to the top (lazy or what!! ::))

Have to say that those knid of menus usually annoy me too

Besides, I thought we had to have the left column for more content down the side.

If you want a moving menu then how about one like this site has which takes up less space.
