Selling tickets on Ebay for more money

Options
I wanted to buy some Gary Barlow tickets for Scarborough, knowing that there are only 600 available for the small venue I got up bright and early to get onto ticketmaster in hope for a slight chance of success.

Didn't get any btw, but just looked on Ebay and they are already up for sale for more than the face value.

Surely this is against the law, apart from being unfair as the buyers have only bought them to make a killing.

    Why is it against the law, I buy something I can sell it for what price I want, if someone is willing to pay my asking price that is up to them what is wrong with that, it is called supply and demand.

    Its called robbery.

    You are taking advantage of 'supply and demand'

    If you cannot buy tobacco legally on the black market, or alcohol or petrol for that matter it should be illegal to take advantage of buying something and selling it for 100% more than its worth.

    You tickets touts are louts, you cannot sell them at the venue can you.

    Excuse me, who do think you are accusing me of being a ticket tout and lout you don't know anything about me, for your information I have never bought and sold a ticket to anyone.

    You asked if something was illegal I simply replied that it was not and gave you reasons why and it is not black market to buy tickets legally though apparently in your opinion it should be.

    Yea I know it happens but its wrong. Tickets should be bought from a legit outlet, not MrTout on Ebay. Tickets are sold at face value price, the price of the concert, sure if you cannot attend I think its reasonable to resell the ticket at face value and postage costs.

    Its all wrong someone buying 2 tickets as ive seen on Ebay at 9-30 this morning and the seller reselling at 9-45 for £245 twice the cost because 'he cannot go'

    This is like getting a dvd copying it and reselling it on, piracy, thats wha tit is and it should be illegal.

    How do you know these sellers are not using the money to buy drugs or promote their crimes like you hear on all the fake this and that sites.

    Ive sold 2 tickets in the past, 2 Tiesto in Edinbrough tickets but I sold them legit and not at an iflated cost. I Know it goes on but it should be outlawed, its not fair and not ethical for people to buy them to actively know they are reselling on 'supply and demand' Like I say where is the money going to? Sure not everyone is reselling them to fund drugs crime etc but someone is.

    I doubt they are being sold to fund crime. More likely someone saw a way to make a fast buck. Or £120.
  • Calm down Op!!!

    Why should it be illegal? What crime is committed?
    Where do you draw the line?
    What about i buy some jeans in a sale at £5 and i sell them for £10 - should i be arrested?
    What about classic cars? Should they only be able to be sold for their purchase price or less?
    As stated above its supply and demand. If people where not willing to pay the higher prices they wouldn't be sold for the higher prices.

    Don't be bitter.
  • I bought a Roger Waters ticket { 14 Sep 2013 } direct from his own site at the presale - everyone will not know the ticket numbers for at least four weeks.

    This is a few days before the public sale so it would be impossible to sell them as there is no actual ticket { that will be picked up on the night of the concert } so it was a big surprise to discover that ' before ' they went on sale to the general public they were already being sold at inflated prices so you have to wonder where they came from as they list the seat/row/block number - they cant be from the presale as no one who bought that day will discover those details until next month.

    two days later ' 02 Priority ' was selling them and most of them appear to be up for resale { as they were allocated a specific block so you can tell they came from that sale }

    two days later was the public sale but of course there was a lot less tickets although its still possible to buy them at face value { they are not close to the stage }

    If I was not a member of his fan club then I would have ended up with rubbish seats ' even if I was first in the queue ' due to the way these tout sites work they hide who is selling them but there is loads of people selling eight tickets together and in a block that was never sold to the general public.

    It should be illegal to sell them on - the promoter should offer to buy back the tickets ' for a small fee ' and they can be sold on to genuine fans.

    If it's suddenly made illegal to sell paintings for more than the artist charged originally, the art world is stuffed.

    Supply and demand.

    My OH got me a limited edition box set last Xmas. Ordered 2 or 3 mths in advance, before we got to Xmas, we reckon it could have been resold on eBay or Amazon at double what was paid for it, because there wasn't that many of them and demand exceeded supply

    should it be illegal for me to resell it?

    I dont think that its wrong to sell things I think its wrong to sell tickets for events at infalted prices so the genuine fans buy them and be ripped off. Thats what it is, fans being ripped off by ticket touts. If you bought a ticket and could not go fair enough sell it at face value cost, not for 200% more knowing that a fan would buy it, you are ripping people off.

    A pair of jeans is different you buy em to wear, but you are not going to buy a pair of jeans and try to sell it 15 minutes later in hope you are going to make 200% profit that wouldnt happen and we all know that.

    Ticket touting is not fair, and we all know it. If anyones child went out to a ticket tout and bought a ticket for an event at over 200% the cost any parent would be !!!!ed off. You would be !!!!ed of because your kid had been taken for a ride.

    Do that in nigeria and you would be walking around with no hands, sorry you wouldnt be walking around.
