Turf laid last summer now bald

I had new Turf laid last summer. It is now covered in bald patches.
I have contacted the firm that laid it, (a local firm established 1966.)
They just said it must be because I didn't water it enough!!
I offered to send them my water meter bill for that quarter!!
Any ideas where I stand on this and what I should do next?
Thanks
Pam

Hi Pam
Do you have a dog(female)? I've heard their wee can cause bald patches in lawns which come back really green the year after. Might just be an urban myth though. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings

The dog doesn't go into the garden where the turf is.
The bald patches are quite big and are irregular shapes.
I don't think it is anything to do with animal urine of any kind.
Thanks

What part of the country do you live in? Last summer was extremely dry in the southern part of Britain, and there were hose pipe bans in many parts - any newly laid turf was going to struggle to establish itself. Having said that, irregular shaped bald patches are symptomatic of the effects of a dog using the lawn as a toilet, unless they are so big to be impossiblt to have been caused by a dog (how big are the patches, how big is the dog?)."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
