Also dependent on the website you are visiting. If you're connecting to a website that only has a 1mbps connection you're never going to see anything more than that.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

It's ok, not brilliant, but still 46 times faster than dial-up.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

Also you shouldn't expect your pc to be any faster, only your internet connection, ie web pages loading faster, downloading files quicker etc.

Lots of things influence internet speeds. For instance I work for a US company and all of our internet traffic goes via the US. In the afternoon when the US staff start work our speed drops noticeably due to the heavy usage.

If you try and access a popular website when it is busy your speed will be slower.

If you want really fast Internet and you are in an area covered by cable, sign up with Virgin Media for their 10mbps service. They are going to be doubling it to 20mbps in the near future, would that be fast enough for you? :D

wow i never knew that, i thought that you could connect to a website at whatever speed broadband you have at your end  rather than it being limited at the websites end
