The difference with being BT or cable is 1899 is slightly cheaper than 18866 as on 18866 with cable there is a 1/2p per minute call charge for UK calls compared to 0p per minute as a BT user.

Hence the recommendation for 1899 but there is nothing to stop anyone signing up for both :D

Did a car boot last Sunday and raised £115!!

I've paid off my NSPCC card, cut it up and sent it back! I have now gone from having 8 credit cards to only 4! And I'm only paying interest on one of them.

My credit card bills all arrive first week of the month so I'll post my current situation on here after that - if nothing else, it focuses my mind on what I'm trying to achieve.

I've reviewed both my car and house insurance and although I can't reduce them its good to know I've got the best deals I can.

Next job is to remortgage the house I'm renting out. My current deal runs out at the end of July so I need to ensure my credit rating is healthy. All this work on getting rid of my CCs should help - I hope.

Does anyone know which Building Societies do the best mortgage deals for rented properties? Its not on a Buy to Let at the moment because I got a 'Let to Buy' mortgage on the house I currently live in instead. I'm currently with Abbey but I had to pay them for permission to rent the property out.

Well done on the car boot and credit cards!! Fantastic!

I'm no mortgage expert, and sorted my current deal over 6 months ago, so a bit out of date on deals....:o

Try Martin's guide to remortgaging - here

    Cheers

I've had a bit of a strange month having to pay the car tax (I must plan for that in future) and for a trip to Italy for a wedding and also paid off all of the NSPCC card in full.

Managed to get an Intelligent Finance card at 0% for 9 months for BTs with a whopping £10K limit. So I've shuffled the money around and this is what my situation looks like now:

NSPCC - paid off and sent back
Virgin - paid off and sent back
Sainsbury's - paid off and sent back

    Capital One - £12905 - £400 min - 0% until Aug 06
    Lloyds TSB - £3084 - £60 min - 0% until Aug 05
    IF - £6350 - approx £200 min - 0% until Feb06

I've actually got sufficient credit left on IF to transfer all of the Lloyds debt there too and then all my available money can go on paying off the debt rather than any interest all thanks to this site.

I could be debt-free in less than 2 years and instead of having loads of credit cards I've now only got the 3 so hopefully my credit rating is still good.

    Capital One - £12518.05 - £375 per month - 0% until August 2006

    Intelligent Finance - £9079 - £200 per month - 0% until February 2006

Airmiles Mastercard - nil balance - use for grocery shopping and pay off in full each month.

Another saving that will happen later this month is that my son leaves Junior School and I will no longer need his After School Club which was costing me £22.50 per week.

I'm considering opening a high interest account and paying a lump sum in there each month to use towards my credit card bills when the 0% offers expire. I feel so positive about how disciplined I've got with money that I can save up and not dip into it. Anyway I'm going to give it a go, I might as well earn a bit of interest on the money while I have the 0% offers.

How on earth did you get 18 months interest free with Capitol One? What kind of situation (credit wise) can the person be in to be accepted by Capitol One? I've gone over my overdraft a couple of times in the past three months and I've applied (but failed) to get credit a couple of times in the past three months too!

I was lucky to get accepted by Capital One when it wad advertised on this website. Since then I haven't applied for any more cards and won't do so until the Intelligent Finance one is close to expiring and then only if I can't transfer what's left on that one to Capital One.

I can only suggest that as you've been refused a few cards you'd better wait about 3 months before trying again to improve your credit rating.

    Good Luck,

    DD

OMG - another bad month with unexpected expenditure! My exhaust snapped on the car, I got a puncture and needed 2 new tyres - £292 later!!

When will I be financially stable enough to plan for these emergencies??

Anyway, I won't let this get me down or stop my efforts so my July situation now looks like this

    Capital One - £12142.51 - £366 per month - 0% until August 2006

    Intelligent Finance - £8972 - £180 per month - 0% until February 2006

Airmiles Mastercard - nil balance - use for grocery shopping and pay off in full each month.

Due to problems with car, didn't manage to save the £300 I was planning to put in my savings account this month but will aim for that to happen in August.

Still feeling good though, cos can manage to pay Airmiles card in full each month :T
